Vice President Joe Biden at NYU this Thurs, April 26!!!

We are proud to announce a very special event at New York University School of Law on Thursday, April 26, 2012. The NYU College Democrats will be hosting the Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden. Vice President Biden will deliver remarks on the President’s commitment to keeping Americans safe and the nation secure. The Vice President’s speech will be in Tishman Auditorium in Vanderbilt Hall on NYU Law’s campus at 40 Washington Square South. Guests are asked to arrive between 9:00 am and 10:00 am on Thursday.
A limited amount of tickets are available to NYU Students. If you are interested in attending, you may pick-up a ticket in the lobby of Vanderbilt Hall on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 am. Ticket distribution will continue until 3 pm, or until all are distributed. The tickets are first come, first served. A NYU ID is required to pick up tickets and enter the event.
Please expect airport-like security. Please bring as little with you as possible. Signs and glass bottles will not be permitted into the event.

This week we will be hosting Assemblymember Brian Kavanagh, who will be discussing the recent campaigns to enact stricter voter-ID laws in various states across the country (which may disenfranchise thousands of voters, most of them minorities, the elderly, and young adults). Prior to the regular meeting, we will be phonebanking with SFBO in the Kimmel 7th Fl Lounge at 6:15 pm!

As always, there will be free food and drinks!



Debate with College Republicans tomorrow at 6:00 PM!

Tomorrow (Thurs, March 29th) is our semi-annual debate with the NYU College Republicans!

The event will be held at 6:00 PM in Kimmel 808, and we will be debating the Affordable Care Act, and gun control.

As always, there will be lively discussion, and free food and drinks!

 



Know Your Rights event tomorrow, March 8th!

For our meeting tomorrow (Thurs. March 8, 2012), NYU College Democrats will be co-hosting a “Know Your Rights” training with SSDP!

Come join us in Kimmel 905/907 at 7PM for a panel discussion and “training” session about how to protect your civil liberties when you are dealing with law enforcement officials.

As always, there will be free food and beverages!

 



Thurs, March 1st, 2012 Meeting: Phonebanking and film

For this week’s meeting, we will be phonebanking with Students For Barack Obama (SFBO), starting at 6:15pm in the 7th Floor Student Lounge in Kimmel.

Then, at 7:00pm we will adjourn to Kimmel 909 to watch part of a documentary about for-profit colleges, and discuss the issues raised in the film.

We are still planning our semi-annual debate with the NYU College Republicans, so anyone interested in debating should come by tomorrow and talk to me or the other officers!

As always, there will be delicious free food!



Phonebanking & Meeting: Thurs, Feb. 16th

For our weekly meeting this Thursday, Feb. 16th, College Democrats will be phonebanking with Students For Barack Obama (SFBO) from 6:00pm-7:00pm in the Kimmel 7th floor student lounge (towards the front), then congregating in Kimmel 909 at 7:00pm to discuss our plans for re-election activities while eating delicious free food!

We will be discussing our plans for this semester, including ideas for policy discussions, guest speakers, issue advocacy, as well as coordinating with Students For Barack Obama on campaign-related activities! Afghanistan: 10 Years Later

On Monday, Dec. 12th, 2011 the SHARP Lecture Series at NYU will be hosting a panel discussion about the United States’ involvement in Afghanistan over the past 10 years.

Panelists will include Brian Katulis of the Center for American Progress, and Michael Wahid Hanna of The Century Foundation.

The discussion will be moderated by Austin Long of the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University, and will be held in the Kimmel Center, Room 406 from 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm.

Last Meeting of Fall 2011

NYU College Democrats will be having our last meeting of the semester on Thursday, Dec. 8th, 2011 at 7:00 pm in Kimmel 909. We will be holding elections and hosting a discussion on the potential positive and negative outcomes of legalizing marijuana.
